Primeval Thule and Call of Cthulhu!

SASQUATCH AND SIXTYSTONE OFFER CALL OF CTHULHU IN PRIMEVAL THULE

Gamers Can Experience Horror RPG in a Swords-And-Sorcery World

Auburn, Wash.—July 12—Sasquatch Game Studio and Sixtystone Press Ltd are joining forces to combine the 7th edition Call of Cthulhu RPG and the Primeval Thule campaign setting.

Primeval Thule, currently the centerpiece of a Kickstarter campaign, was designed to be compatible with three rule sets: Pathfinder RPG, 13th Age, or 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons. Now backers of Sasquatch Game Studio’s Kickstarter campaign can obtain a PDF conversion book letting them use the 7th edition Call of Cthulhu rules to create games with Lovecraftian horror in a savage world.

Sixtystone Press will design the conversion document to bring the RPG field’s preeminent horror rules to Primeval Thule, a full-fledged swords-and-sorcery setting. Sasquatch Game Studio will make the conversion PDF available to its Kickstarter backers at the $40 level (all digital) and $80 and higher levels (digital and print book). The conversion document will also be available for later sale.

“I am pleased and delighted to be offered the chance of working with the great guys of Sasquatch Game Studio. Primeval Thule is a fabulous distillation of the pulp swordsmen influences of Lovecraft, Howard, and Smith; and Sixtystone is happy to bring that world of excitement and horror to Call of Cthulhu, the original dark phantasy RPG system. Sixtystone aims to retain the full flavour of Primeval Thule, whilst emphasising the ancient secrets and ever-present horror that defines Call of Cthulhu,” Sixtystone publisher and editor-in-chief Adam Crossingham said.

David Noonan, co-founder and creative director of Sasquatch Game studio, said that the Call of Cthulhu conversion PDF marked another step in Sasquatch’s commitment to making Primeval Thule available to multiple rules systems.

“We’ve always taken a cross-platform approach to Thule, and now you can explore this dangerous, savage place in any of four rules systems,” he said. “Lovecraft’s influences abound in Primeval Thule, so a Call of Cthulhu game set there makes a lot of sense.”

Sixtystone Press Limited is a British-based licensee for Chaosium’s award-winning Call of Cthulhu RPG. Sixtystone Press has recently published Investigator Weapons, volume 1, and Lost in the Lights for Call of Cthulhu, and Ghouls: Eaters of Death by Daniel Harms and Unhallowed Wizardry by John Snead are imminent.

Sasquatch Game Studio LLC, founded by longtime D&D designers Richard Baker, David Noonan and Stephen Schubert, is devoted to delivering top-quality hobby game experiences. Its inaugural project, Primeval Thule, is currently undergoing a Kickstarter campaign.

Colonial Lovecraft Country open for playtesting

by on Jul.14, 2013, under Campaign Setting, Colonial Lovecraft Country, Future Publications, Mini Campaign, Source book

After Matthew Ruane’s excellent trail blazing efforts, Sixtystone are throwing Colonial Lovecraft Country open to playtesting.

We are looking for numerous groups to playtest the rules, the scenarios and the campaign. We would like you to playtest what is written, and critique that rather than rewrite or offer solutions.

You and your group must be willing to sign and return an NDA, and remain silent on your experience until publication or when given the all clear from Sixtystone. You may choose to playtest the rules and the scenarios; or the rules and the campaign; or the rules, scenarios and campaigns. The campaign is shorter than the scenario book.

Sixtystone want to aggressively playtest the product proceeding publication so you and your group should be willing to commit to the playtest for the next couple of months.

There is no pay for this, but you will receive a handsome credit in the final books and every member of your group will receive PDF copies of the Colonial Lovecraft Country books.

Playtest reviewers are not required at this moment; you must be part of a group to qualify.

If you wish to participate in this playtest, please send an email to Sixtystone.press@googlemail.com with a subject line that starts [CoLoCo Playtest] by Wednesday 17 July 2013.

Thank you for your continued interest in Colonial Lovecraft Country.
